Cavite State University CvSU Naic actively participated in the Election of Sectoral Representatives for the Fisheries Management Area 6 FMA 6 Management Board, held on March 18, 2026, at Tanza Oasis, Tanza, Cavite. The activity was organized by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources BFAR Region IV-A and gathered sectoral representatives from aquaculture, commercial and municipal fisheries, non-government organizations, national government agencies, academe or research institutions, and local government units.
Representing CvSU Naic were Dr. Jesus Paolo B. Cullado, Associate Professor of the Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Department FASD, and Ms. Ma. Leslie M. Marfil, FASD Chairperson. The activity aimed to select the FMA 6 Regional Co-Chairperson and the new set of Management Board members in accordance with Fisheries Administrative Order FAO No. 263 and the approved Internal Rules of Procedure of FMA 6.
A key highlight of the event was the election of Dr. Cullado as a member of the FMA 6 Management Board representing the academic sector in Region IV-A. He also continues to serve as a member of the Technical Working Group of FMA 6. As part of the Management Board, members are tasked to contribute to the development and implementation of policies and programs and to ensure the application of science-based fisheries management guided by the FMA plan and the Scientific Advisory Group SAG.
The participation of CvSU Naic underscores its commitment to advancing sustainable fisheries management and strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders in the region.
