Cavite State University (CvSU) Naic Campus achieved a significant milestone during the 2023 Extension Conference, a notable event held as part of the 2023 Research and Extension Week with the theme “Rediscovering and Reframing Strategies for a Holistic Research and Extension that Nurtures and Recognizes Excellence.” This achievement underscores the campus’s commitment to excellence in community engagement and outreach.
CvSU Naic’s ongoing extension project, titled “Promotion of Fisheries Post-harvest Technologies Towards Food and Financial Security,” garnered well-deserved recognition by securing second place at the conference. The project’s success reflects the dedication and hard work of the faculty members from the CvSU Naic Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Department, who authored it. This multidisciplinary team, comprising Ms. Harliqueen Jacinto, Ms. Mariel Benigno, Prof. Roberto Lacson, Prof. Armina Pugay, Prof. Leah Lacson, Prof. Manuel De Guzman, Dr. Jesus Paolo Cullado, Ms. Quennie Bilugan, Mr. Jomel Limbago, Mr. Arjay Pataueg, Ms. Ma. Elizabeth Esmeralda, and Mr. Samuel Hermogino, demonstrated their expertise and dedication to improving fisheries and contributing to food and financial security.
The recognition of this extension project is not just a testament to the team’s hard work but also a reflection of CvSU Naic’s broader commitment to making a positive impact on the community. The project aligns with the university’s mission to address real-world challenges and create tangible benefits for society.
Additionally, CvSU Naic’s Teacher Education Department showcased another extension project at the conference: “Tawid Karunungan Para sa Pamayanan: A Functional Literacy Program.” This initiative further highlights the campus’s dedication to educational outreach and community empowerment.
Both projects are part of CvSU Naic’s Batangan Extension Program, aptly named after the local term for outrigger boom. This program exemplifies the university’s role as “Baybaying Tagapag-angat ng Kabuhayan,” which translates to the upliftment of livelihoods along the coastline. This commitment to holistic community development is a core value that resonates throughout CvSU Naic’s extension efforts.
