Cavite State University (CvSU) Naic Campus stood out prominently during the 2023 Research Symposium, a significant event held as part of the 2023 Research and Extension Week. Under the overarching theme of “Rediscovering and Reframing Strategies for a Holistic Research and Extension that Nurtures and Recognizes Excellence,” CvSU Naic secured awards in the fields of Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, reaffirming its commitment to cutting-edge research and academic excellence.

In the Social Sciences Research category, the paper titled “Social Vulnerability Assessment of Coastal Barangays in Naic, Cavite” received accolades as the 2nd Best Paper. This research, authored by a distinguished team consisting of Dr. Leah Navarro, Dr. Elsa D. Nueva, Dr. Paulo Cullado, Prof. Elvira Balleza, Dr. Catherine Diones, Prof. Adiliza Nazareno, and Prof. Diosalyn Galang, delved into the critical topic of social vulnerability assessment in coastal barangays. The recognition of this paper highlights the depth and significance of research conducted at CvSU Naic, addressing real-world issues that impact communities.

In the Natural Sciences Research category, another outstanding paper titled “Biometric and Neurotoxic Response of Tilapia sp. along Maragondon River Continuum: An Ecotoxicology Perspective” secured the 2nd Best Paper award. Prof. Jomel Limbago and Prof. Leah Lacson’s collaborative research explored biometric and neurotoxic responses in Tilapia species along the Maragondon River continuum, providing valuable insights into ecological dynamics and potential environmental risks. This recognition underscores CvSU Naic’s commitment to advancing knowledge in the natural sciences and contributing to our understanding of environmental sustainability.

Furthermore, the active involvement of CvSU Naic’s Mr. Ariel Rivera and Ms. Sally Roguel as a GAD (Gender and Development) Evaluator in the Development Category and Research Auditor in the Natural Sciences Category, respectively, demonstrates the campus’s commitment to holistic research evaluation and its support for gender-sensitive research initiatives. Their roles as evaluators and auditors play a crucial part in maintaining research quality and adherence to ethical standards.
