On April 29, 2025, the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (BSFAS) IV students of Cavite State University Naic successfully organized a virtual webinar via Google Meet as part of their FISH 190 Seminar subject. The event featured Mr. Francisco M. Reyes, Jr., Aquaculturist II and Shellfish Unit Head of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources–National Fisheries Development Center (BFAR-NFDC), who served as the resource speaker.
Attended by all BSFAS students and faculty members of the Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Department, the webinar aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of shellfish aquaculture, particularly the biology, physiology, and life cycle of oysters and green mussels, as well as broodstock selection, hatchery operations, and innovative practices for sustainability and productivity in shellfish farming.
This activity also served as a practical training ground for BSFAS IV students in organizing academic events, preparing them for future professional engagements and board examination readiness.
